A family was left distraught when an Amazon delivery driver allegedly took their cat from their doorstep, but they have now been joyfully reunited with their cherished pet.
Video footage captured by the cat’s owner, Carl Crowther, showed a delivery driver in a yellow hi-vis outfit approaching the house, picking up the cat, and walking away on Sunday, January 18, in Elland, West Yorkshire.
The family was deeply saddened by the incident, with Mr. Crowther stating that the driver callously walked off with Nora in his arms and placed her in his vehicle. Concerned about Nora’s health and medication needs, the family promptly appealed for her safe return.
In a recent update, it was confirmed that Nora had been safely returned to her family after they reported the incident to both Amazon and the West Yorkshire Police.
West Yorkshire Police announced that Nora had been reunited with her family and that an investigation into the theft was ongoing.
Mr. Crowther expressed his shock at witnessing the apparent catnapping on his doorbell camera, emphasizing Nora’s usual proximity to their home and her medical condition.
Following the incident, Mr. Crowther reported the matter to Amazon and the authorities. While Mr. Crowther claimed that Amazon offered monetary compensation, Amazon clarified that the family was being directed to insurance procedures as the driver is employed by a subsidiary, not directly by Amazon.
The incident highlights the importance of vigilance and swift action in reuniting stolen pets with their owners, underscoring the significance of community cooperation in such situations.
