A young woman met a man from a dating app and ended up enduring a harrowing four-year ordeal. The perpetrator, named Mateusz J, confined her in a desolate animal barn without basic amenities like electricity or running water. After the survivor, identified as Małgorzata, was found with severe injuries in September 2024, the truth of her captivity emerged.
Mateusz J has now been sentenced to life in a therapeutic setting by Judge Michał Misiak for his crimes of abuse and deprivation of liberty. Additionally, he has been ordered to pay Małgorzata approximately £100,000 in compensation and is prohibited from contacting her for the next 15 years.
During her captivity, Małgorzata was subjected to heinous acts, including severe mutilation. She revealed her fears of retaliation if she spoke out against her captor, who conducted cruel experiments on her. Despite instances of hospital treatment where she could have sought help, Małgorzata remained silent due to her captor’s threats.
The prosecutor’s office described the torment Małgorzata endured, detailing physical abuse, isolation, humiliation, and forced sexual acts. Shockingly, the makeshift cell where she was held was located near neighbors who were unaware of the horrors unfolding next door. Mateusz J’s parents claim ignorance of the situation, expressing disbelief at the revelations.
Throughout his trial, Mateusz J maintained that his relationship with Małgorzata was consensual, showing no remorse for his actions. Medical experts confirmed his sanity during the crimes, with the court labeling his deeds as exceptionally evil. The judge emphasized the unprecedented nature of the case, acknowledging its complexity and the impact on those involved.
