A British Airways aircraft raised an emergency alert mid-flight, prompting fire trucks to rush to the runway for its landing. Flight BA812, which departed from London Heathrow bound for Copenhagen Airport, encountered the issue just before its scheduled arrival on Sunday.
As the Airbus A319 was making its final approach, the pilots transmitted a ‘Squawk 7700’ code, indicating a general emergency. The specific cause of the problem remains unclear.
Upon landing in Copenhagen, the plane was met by fire engines and emergency vehicles for inspection on the tarmac before being escorted to Gate C28. Passengers disembarked normally using an airbridge after the inspection.
The incident caused significant disruptions to the aircraft’s schedule, resulting in a delay for the return flight BA813 to London as further inspections were required.
British Airways issued a statement apologizing to customers for the travel delays and mentioned awaiting revised departure and arrival times.
In a separate incident in July 2022, another British Airways plane flying from London to Copenhagen caught fire upon arrival. Firefighters swiftly responded, extinguishing the flames as passengers safely evacuated the Airbus A320-232.

Due to the incident, the return flight from Copenhagen to London was canceled, causing delays and further inspections on the aircraft.
