Two children with special needs were discovered alone at their residence in Michigan, residing in squalid conditions, thanks to a concerned neighbor who alerted the police. Upon arrival, officers found one child attempting to consume raw meat due to the lack of edible items in the household, while the other child was huddled on the floor in an empty room.
The police inspection unveiled a home littered with garbage, overturned furniture, and a running tap, with one child even covered in feces. It was confirmed by investigators that the children had been left unattended for an extensive period by their mother, Krystal Farmer.
Flint Township Police Department condemned the neglect, stating that the children faced filth, hunger, and fear while their mother neglected their well-being for her own interests. Described as “walking into abandonment itself,” one officer expressed the heartbreaking scene inside the residence.
Neighbors expressed unease, with concerns raised several months prior. Christy Ogles-Campbell revealed suspicions dating back to September, expressing shock at the reality of the situation. The children are now safe, but the impact of the incident on those involved is profound.
Ms. Ogles-Campbell urged for prayers for the young boys, emphasizing the importance of them staying together as they only have each other. Krystal Farmer, aged 35, has been charged with multiple serious offenses, including child abandonment, child abuse, and providing false information during a criminal investigation.
