One individual was hospitalized following a crane collapse at a port in England. Emergency crews from multiple services rushed to the scene at the Port of Tyne in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, where the incident involving a dockside crane occurred around 1.02 pm.
The North East Ambulance Service and the Great North Air Ambulance responded to the incident after a person sustained injuries. A spokesperson from the North East Ambulance Service stated that they received a call about the incident at 1.02 pm on July 19. They dispatched several ambulances, clinical team leaders, a duty officer, vehicles from the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), and received support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service. The injured individual was transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
A HART vehicle remains at the scene to assist the fire service. Images from the site display the crane damage and shifted containers on a BG Freight Line vessel.
