Meanwhile, the US Central Command has conducted successive strikes for nine consecutive nights in response to these provocations.
The State Department has urged Americans worldwide, especially those in the Middle East, to exercise heightened caution and closely follow security advice from local US embassies and consulates. The advisory highlights the potential for unforeseen escalations in the region, which could lead to flight disruptions and temporary airspace closures.
In response to the situation, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister criticized the US for reneging on commitments outlined in a previous agreement following deadly strikes in Iran. The US, on the other hand, has targeted military sites and communication networks in an effort to deter further Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran retaliated by launching a surprise attack in Syria and targeting a US aircraft at Jordan’s Aqaba airport. The country’s news agency reported attacks in various cities, along with explosions involving oil tankers in the strait. Disputes have arisen over the circumstances of these incidents, with conflicting accounts from the IRGC and CENTCOM.
The IRGC has warned that as long as US strikes persist, the safety of shipping routes in the strait will be compromised. It has threatened retaliatory actions, emphasizing that the transit of oil and gas will not be secure.
