Stricken with guilt, Madeline questioned her role as a daughter, especially considering her mother’s ongoing medical battles, including multiple sclerosis, past chemotherapy for bone cancer, and mental health challenges.
Receiving the unexpected news of her mother needing a heart transplant while finalizing her apartment lease left Madeline in a state of shock and uncertainty. Despite the physical distance separating them, Madeline and her mother maintained a strong bond, adapting to their changing communication dynamics and relying on the support of her stepfather during her absence.
