A daughter’s relentless quest to locate her mother’s missing remains, following a tragic incident where the mother was murdered and disposed of in a drainage ditch, has resulted in significant financial expenses. Jamie Lynn Donavon McDonald, a 62-year-old foster carer, vanished on May 1, 2024, and parts of her body were discovered on June 14, 2024, near her residence in Homosassa, Florida. It is believed that her reliance on prescription medications due to a previous back injury led her into a dangerous situation.
Charged with the murder of Jamie and another individual, Kenneth Zickendrath, are Luequita Sclesky, 32, and her husband, Duane David Sclesky, 38. Allegations suggest that they utilized stolen information to access the victims’ bank accounts. The trial for the accused is pending without a scheduled date.
Despite recovering some of Jamie’s bones, her daughter, Hope Yates-McDonald, 32, is determined to find all missing remains. Hope, a radiology student from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, has dedicated herself to this cause, utilizing scuba diving skills, sniffer dogs, and a specially trained otter to locate and retrieve 15 of her mother’s bones to date. Hope’s relentless efforts have been driven by her desire to honor her mother’s memory and bring closure to her family.
In her pursuit, Hope has faced challenges and emotional turmoil, having sold her home and invested significant personal funds, estimated between $10,000 to $15,000, into the recovery mission. Despite the financial strain, Hope remains resolute in her mission, seeking to recover all remaining bones to enable her to properly mourn her mother’s passing and confront the individuals responsible for her tragic fate.
Hope’s unwavering determination and commitment to finding closure exemplify the love and bond shared between a mother and daughter, transcending even the darkest of circumstances.
