“easyJet launches new London-Luton to Ljubljana route”

Date:

A new flight route by easyJet will link London-Luton Airport with a lesser-known European city break destination perfect for quick getaways. Despite its relatively short flight duration of less than two-and-a-half hours, this Central European city boasts enchanting castles, a historic old town, and scenic river explorations.

Launching on October 26, the new route to Ljubljana offers one-way fares starting at £40.99, making it an attractive option for autumn visits or to experience the festive Christmas market later in the year. Ljubljana Castle, perched atop a lush hill overlooking the city, presents a picturesque medieval setting accessible by road or a charming funicular railway offering panoramic city views.

The castle’s interior is equally impressive, housing an intricate chapel, expansive formal gardens, and the quirky Museum of Puppetry. Visitors can also enjoy dining at restaurants with outdoor terraces, providing a delightful spot to witness stunning sunsets.

Ljubljana is a pedestrian-friendly city, featuring the largest car-free zone in the European Union within its city center. Noteworthy sites to explore on foot include Prešernov Trg Square, renowned for the iconic pink Franciscan Church of the Annunciation and the interactive art installation “The Area With Ljubljana’s Own Weather.” Additionally, strolling across the Tromostovje (triple bridge) leads to the vibrant medieval old town with its colorful baroque buildings and charming alleys for wandering.

For a unique perspective, visitors can opt to cruise along the river on traditional wooden boats, offering views of bourgeois townhouses and landmarks like the Dragon Bridge adorned with striking sculptures. Compared to other major European city destinations, Ljubljana offers a more budget-friendly experience, with affordable dining options and local beer prices.

Accommodation choices in the car-free city center range from luxurious to budget-friendly. The Zlata Ladjica Boutique Hotel, a 5-star property with individually designed rooms featuring rustic accents, offers riverside views starting from £250 per night. Alternatively, budget-conscious travelers can consider Cacao Rooms, providing clean and comfortable accommodations near historic squares for around £107 per night.
