The luxury holiday division of budget airline easyJet is experiencing significant growth, exemplified by a high-end vacation priced at £100,000.
easyJet has introduced a subsidiary targeting travelers willing to forgo luxury air travel amenities in exchange for the opportunity to stay at upscale hotels using the cost savings.
According to Garry Wilson, the head of easyJet Holidays, the luxury arm is receiving numerous bookings for high-end vacations on a weekly basis.
The average booking for these luxury holidays amounts to £3,000, significantly higher than the average booking of £800 for the airline’s standard package holidays. The most expensive booking to date totaled £97,000 for a group of 13 individuals.
Launched in October last year, easyJet Holidays’ Luxury Collection offers top-tier five-star holiday experiences tailored for travelers seeking ultra-luxurious adventures, with a selection of approximately 100 highly acclaimed hotels rated at least 4.5 stars on Google and Tripadvisor.
Customers booking luxury holidays with easyJet also benefit from a 26kg luggage allowance, dedicated bag drop, fast-track security, priority boarding, and pre-selected seating, enhancing the overall airport experience.
In contrast to regular easyJet services where passengers arrange their own transportation upon arrival, luxury holiday customers are provided with premium private transfers from the airline to their hotel.
Despite being established in 2019, easyJet Holidays has quickly grown to serve three million customers annually, capturing a 10% market share.
The luxury holiday concept has garnered strong customer appeal, offering excellent value with high-quality accommodations, as emphasized by Mr. Wilson, who highlighted that easyJet holiday hotels are not typically associated with five-star luxury in customers’ perceptions.
Mr. Wilson further explained that the introduction of the luxury holiday arm was a logical step, as customers frequently booked easyJet flights, especially from regional airports, and subsequently arranged their accommodations separately.
While currently exclusive to UK customers, the Luxury Collection will expand to European markets in the coming year.
