Elderly Briton Dies in Car Fire Tragedy

Date:

An elderly British man tragically lost his life when his car caught fire in Cyprus. The incident occurred in the town of Avgorou in the southwest region of the country after the vehicle became stuck in mud.

The 88-year-old driver was on his way to an animal shelter accompanied by his dog and a caregiver when they took a wrong turn onto a dirt road. In an attempt to free the car, sparks from the vehicle ignited dry reeds nearby, leading to a fire that quickly engulfed the car on Saturday.

Although the caregiver managed to escape and advised the man to leave the car, he insisted she seek help. After the fire was extinguished, the man’s body was discovered near the passenger door, indicating he had tried to escape the flames. Tragically, his dog also perished in the blaze.

An investigation is now underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. A post-mortem examination confirmed that the man died from the burns. The man was a resident of Pachna, a village in southern Cyprus, according to reports from Cyprus Mail.
