Shivon Zilis, a former employee of OpenAI and the mother of four children belonging to Elon Musk, the wealthiest individual globally, has revealed in a US court hearing that Musk had offered to provide his sperm to her. The 40-year-old venture capitalist disclosed the details of her unconventional relationship with Musk in a public statement. Those interested in Silicon Valley gossip were not disappointed as Zilis openly discussed the transition of her relationship with Musk from professional to personal.
Zilis shared that Musk had proposed donating sperm to her in 2020, indicating his encouragement for people around him to have children, especially after noticing her desire to be a mother. Consequently, he made the offer to assist her in fulfilling that wish.
Although the couple now has four children together, Zilis initially kept the father’s identity concealed due to concerns about their safety given Musk’s significant public status. It was only in 2022, after the press exposed their relationship, that she informed the OpenAI board. Despite facing accusations of espionage at OpenAI while engaging in a romantic involvement with Musk, Zilis has denied these allegations.
During the court proceedings, Zilis was questioned about a text message conversation related to corporate strategy involving OpenAI. Initially claiming no recollection of the exchange, Zilis later explained that, amidst a challenging period for Musk and OpenAI, she aimed to ensure maximum alignment between them, a role she had historically played. She clarified that the text exchange was an attempt to understand Musk’s perspective during this time.
The focus of the much-anticipated Silicon Valley legal battle remained on Musk’s personal life. Musk acknowledged during his testimony that he resides with Zilis and publicly acknowledges her as his “partner.”
Despite Musk’s public image as a prolific father, having fathered multiple children with different women and often joking about being a “sperm donor,” the court proceedings presented a more intimate portrayal. Musk confirmed that he shares a residence with Zilis and refers to her as his “partner,” solidifying their relationship status.
