A vehicle exploded near the US embassy in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, causing a fire visible from a considerable distance. Authorities have cordoned off the area, and emergency responders are on site addressing the situation.
According to reports from the Armenian Shamshyan news website, the explosion took place at approximately 6pm local time, equivalent to 2pm GMT.
Police and fire departments swiftly arrived at the scene, leading to temporary closure of traffic from the US Embassy on Isakov Avenue to the Haghtanak Bridge while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
Currently, authorities are determining if there are any casualties and seeking to identify the owner and driver of the vehicle involved, local media sources confirmed.
