“Facebook Fabrication: Woman Arrested for False Gang Rape Claim”

Date:

A woman has been taken into custody for allegedly misleading the police with a fabricated story of a gang rape incident that gained traction on social media platforms.

The woman in her twenties posted on Facebook that she was assaulted by four men in tracksuits at Milton Regis Recreation Ground near Sittingbourne around 9 pm last Saturday. The post quickly circulated among local groups, including the Gossip Board of Sittingbourne, urging anyone with relevant information to step forward.

After conducting initial inquiries based on the online claim, officers found no evidence supporting the alleged assault. The woman was arrested on Wednesday and questioned at the local police station. She has been released on bail while the investigation continues.

Chief Inspector Vanessa Foster of the Swale district assured the community that allegations of this nature are taken seriously. She emphasized that victims of sexual assault and rape will receive thorough investigations and necessary support.
