“Family and Lawmakers Demand Prince Andrew Testify in Epstein Case”

Date:

The family of Virginia Giuffre, alongside US lawmakers, is calling for Prince Andrew to testify before Congress regarding the Jeffrey Epstein case. Sky Roberts, Giuffre’s brother, emphasized the importance of Andrew appearing before Congress to address questions. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer supported this call, highlighting the need for new legal avenues to seek justice for survivors of Epstein’s abuse.

In a statement, Sky and Amanda Roberts backed the passing of Virginia’s Law, emphasizing the necessity to support survivors. The law aims to remove the statute of limitations on adult sex trafficking to allow survivors to seek justice regardless of the perpetrator’s status or when the abuse occurred.

Despite requests from Democrats for Prince Andrew to provide testimony, he has not responded. However, if he travels to the US, a subpoena could be issued for his testimony. Meanwhile, during questioning, Ghislaine Maxwell, from a Texas prison, refused to cooperate with lawmakers regarding Epstein, sparking further scrutiny.

Maxwell, convicted of sex trafficking, refused to answer questions during a video deposition, invoking her right to silence. Her lawyer indicated she would only cooperate in exchange for clemency. Democratic lawmakers criticized this stance, urging her transfer back to a high-security prison for non-cooperation.

Lawmakers expressed concerns over redacted names in the released Epstein files, including a foreign government official. Efforts to reveal the full documents have faced obstacles, with lawmakers calling for Maxwell’s immediate transfer. The legislation mandating file release prohibits redactions for the sake of powerful figures’ reputations, aiming to protect victims’ identities.

Epstein’s extensive network and subsequent revelations have shaken various sectors, leading to resignations and tarnished reputations. The circumstances surrounding Epstein’s death in 2019 continue to raise suspicions, fueling ongoing investigations and public outrage.
