Fatal Assault in Dublin Leaves One Dead and Two Injured

In the early hours of this morning, an unfortunate incident led to the death of a man and the hospitalization of two women following an assault.

Around 1:30 am today, authorities in north Dublin responded to a distress call at Foster Terrace in Ballybough where they found a man in his 50s with severe injuries.

Regrettably, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, as per reports from Dublin Live. Two women, both in their 60s, were also discovered at the location and promptly taken to the hospital. One of the women is in serious condition but is not in a life-threatening state.

The area and a nearby residence have been secured by the Garda Technical Bureau for forensic investigations. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been informed, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

No arrests have been made so far. Authorities are pursuing a specific line of inquiry and currently do not seek any other individuals related to the incident.

A spokesperson stated, “An Garda Síochána are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal assault that happened on Foster Terrace, Dublin 3, on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Just before 1:30 am on that day, the authorities and emergency services reacted to reports of the assault.”

“A male in his 50s was found with severe injuries and was later declared dead at the scene. The deceased’s body is still at Foster Terrace.

“A female in her 60s was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and is awaiting discharge. Another female in her 60s was hospitalized for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is currently under medical care.”

“The scene at Foster Terrace and a nearby household are being preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The Coroner and the State Pathologist’s Office have been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled.”

“A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been designated to lead the investigation, and an incident room has been set up at Mountjoy Garda Station. No arrests have been made at this point.”

“The investigating authorities urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about it to come forward. They also appeal to those with camera footage, including motorists with dashcams between 1 am and 1:30 am on Saturday, January 31, 2026, to reach out.”
