The FBI has returned Nancy Guthrie’s residence to her family, indicating the conclusion of the extensive search for her. The 84-year-old woman went missing from her house just north of Tucson, Arizona on February 1, allegedly taken against her will, according to authorities.
Nancy was last seen at her property on January 31 around 9:30 pm. After weeks of investigation, the FBI has relinquished control of the house back to the family, no longer considering it a crime scene. This is the second time the property has been handed back to the family since her disappearance.
During a recent segment on NBC Nightly News, a source mentioned that investigators no longer see the necessity to maintain the home as a crime scene or restrict the family’s access. The decision to return the house signifies the end of evidence collection, preventing potential contamination or tampering issues as per the source.
The analyst emphasized, “This is the final point in the evidence collection process.” Concerns arose when Nancy did not attend her local Mass on February 1, prompting the Pima County Sheriff’s office to designate her home as a crime scene due to unsettling findings inside.
Authorities believe Nancy was forcibly removed from her residence, leading her family to offer a reward of up to $1 million for any information leading to her recovery.
