“Fire at Dominican Republic Hotel Destroys Guests’ Passports”

Guests at a high-end hotel in the Dominican Republic faced a distressing situation when a fire broke out, destroying their passports and other essential travel documents. Nearly 1,700 individuals were evacuated from the Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham following the tragic incident that claimed the life of one holidaymaker.

Efforts are now underway by the hotel staff to assist the stranded guests who lost their identification papers in the fire. Amanda Santana, a hotel executive, mentioned that they are collaborating with embassies and governments to facilitate the re-entry of affected guests.

The exact number of evacuees who lost their travel documents or belongings in the fire remains unknown. Emergency personnel were alerted to the fire at the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach Hotel, resulting in the unfortunate death of an Italian tourist and injuries to several others.

In response to the incident, the resort chain expressed condolences for the loss and confirmed the closure of the hotel until further notice. Numerous tourists have been relocated to nearby accommodations following the blaze, which was exacerbated by strong winds and flammable roofing materials.

Situated in a once serene fishing village, the hotel underwent significant renovations in recent years. Despite the calamity, the Dominican Republic remains a popular tourist destination, attracting millions of visitors annually. Residents took to social media to highlight the challenges faced by emergency crews in combating the intense flames at the resort.
