An influencer known for fitness and ‘looksmaxxing’ tragically passed away after allegedly injecting liquid gold in the belief it would grant him special abilities. Connor Michael Murphy, aged 32, lost his life on July 8 at a luxury rental home in Banh Phil, Thailand, where police responded to reports of disturbance.
Upon locating Murphy, authorities described him as exhibiting erratic behavior and engaging in a nude rampage. Thai officials stated that Murphy attempted to evade the police by entering a lake, leading to the fatal incident.
Before his demise, Murphy, who was transitioning his online content from bodybuilding to spirituality and religion, was working on a documentary. Known for his fascination with gold’s mystical properties, Murphy reportedly believed ingesting gold could enhance cognitive abilities based on a debunked study.
Close acquaintances revealed that Murphy began injecting gold as part of a personal experiment, which resulted in concerning behavior due to gold poisoning. Despite warnings from friends, Murphy persisted in his beliefs about the powers of gold, claiming to have achieved superhuman abilities before his untimely death.
Authorities have not confirmed the claims of enhanced abilities, and the exact cause of Murphy’s death remains undetermined. Police discovered syringes and unidentified tablets in Murphy’s possession, along with evidence of gold paint in his rented apartment.
Concerns about Murphy’s mental well-being had been raised by friends before his passing, prompting considerations of seeking professional help. With a substantial following on social media, Murphy’s content spanned bodybuilding, fitness, philosophy, and humor.
Specialist divers eventually recovered Murphy’s body from the lake after a search operation. The circumstances surrounding his death, including the presence of substances and erratic behavior, are under investigation.
