“Flight Expert Reveals Best Seating Strategy”

Date:

A cabin crew member has recently revealed his top recommendation for the best seating option on a flight. The seasoned flyer offered valuable advice to travelers aiming to enhance their overall journey experience. Gabriel Randone, a Cabin Crew Instructor at Wizz Air, disclosed his personal favorite seat and also shared insights on another seat that comes with additional benefits if passengers are fortunate enough to secure it.

In an interview with the Mirror, Gabriel emphasized his preference for the front row as a passenger. He explained, “I really enjoy sitting at the front. Row one provides extra legroom along with some exclusive advantages.” According to Gabriel, occupying the front row ensures being among the first to disembark and board the plane, as well as having a designated overhead compartment for personal use.

He further added, “Undoubtedly, row one is fantastic. However, when I have the option to select a seat while traveling, I always opt for a window seat. I find great joy in gazing outside during the flight and appreciating the scenic views.” Wizz Air designates front-row seats as premium seating, but there are other premium options available too, such as upfront seats at the front of the aircraft and extra-legroom seats in emergency exit rows. While passengers usually need to pay extra for these premium seats, there are instances where they may be upgraded to emergency exit rows at no additional cost, particularly if the flight is not fully booked.

Gabriel elaborated that sometimes passengers are upgraded to these premium seats, benefiting from the perks when the flight is operating below full capacity. He explained, “Occasionally, due to underbooking, the emergency exit rows may have empty seats. In such cases, we select an able-bodied person to move closer to assist in emergencies. Since emergencies are statistically rare, this serves as a sort of upgrade.”

However, not all passengers are eligible for these informal upgrades. Wizz Air’s regulations restrict individuals under 16 years old, overweight passengers, those with special needs, expectant mothers, and passengers traveling with infants under 2 years old from occupying Extra Legroom or Front Row seats. These regulations are in place to ensure the safety of all passengers on board, particularly in emergency situations where passengers in emergency rows may be required to assist in opening doors during evacuations. Prior to departure, passengers seated in these rows receive specific safety briefings.
