A former member of the British male entertainment group Dreamboy is facing charges for allegedly killing his girlfriend in their residence in France.
George Goodayle, aged 47, surrendered to authorities after reportedly shooting Jayne Gregory, aged 49, with a hunting rifle. French officials stated that he admitted to the shooting on Monday, claiming it was accidental. Gregory was found deceased with two gunshot wounds at their home in Brillac, Charente, France, with the firearm believed to be the murder weapon seized by the police. Goodayle was arrested on suspicion of spousal murder and placed in police custody.
An investigating magistrate and a forensic doctor visited the crime scene in Brillac. Goodayle appeared before a judge and was formally charged with spousal murder, leading to his pre-trial detention.
The couple, both in their forties, had been in a relationship since June and had recently vacationed together in the Pyrenees in February. A friend of Jayne, originally from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, mentioned that she relocated to France in late 2020 or early 2021 to make a fresh start away from England.
Described as an animal lover, particularly fond of horses and dogs, Jayne was known for her stylish attire and vibrant lifestyle. Friends recalled her as a generous, outgoing individual who enjoyed luxury vacations. She had a passion for animals, having bred dogs when she lived in Doncaster and continued caring for them when she moved to France.
Goodayle, a British national residing in Brillac since 2016, had no declared occupation. He voluntarily reported to the Confolens gendarmerie on March 16, 2026, confessing to shooting his partner with a shotgun. Although initially suspected of spousal murder, he suggested the shooting may have been accidental during police interrogations. In a social media post from March 2011, Goodayle identified himself as “gorgeous George” from Dreamboys, a well-known male strip show.
In October, Gregory posted a loving photo of the couple, celebrating Goodayle’s birthday and referencing his past involvement with Dreamboys. Brillac, located in the picturesque Charente Limousine area, is a tranquil rural commune with a central village surrounded by hamlets and farmlands, attracting outdoor enthusiasts for activities like hiking and cycling.
