“Four Men Admit Violent Disorder Charges in Henry Nowak Protest”

Date:

Four additional men have confessed to charges of violent disorder related to the demonstration following Henry Nowak’s murder. Andrew Summerhayes, 38, Dillon Crawford, 29, Harry Varney, 34, and Taylor Grundy, 22, admitted guilt at Southampton Magistrates Court. Summerhayes also pleaded guilty to possessing offensive weapons in a public area.

During the court proceedings, Prosecutor Robert Salame detailed the alleged actions of the accused. Summerhayes reportedly threw objects, including bins, at police officers, while Crawford used large items like bins and chairs against law enforcement. Varney resisted police instructions, pushing against their shields, and Grundy wheeled a large industrial bin towards riot police.

The four individuals were part of a group that confronted riot police preventing access to the residence of Henry’s murderer, Vickrum Digwa, 23. The protest ensued following the release of footage showing the 18-year-old victim handcuffed while dying, ignored by officers despite his pleas for help after being stabbed. Digwa later confessed to the fatal stabbing, initially claiming he was a victim of a racist attack.

The accused men confirmed their identities and were remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Crown Court. In a related development, four other men, including Connor Bishop, Noah Etherington, Reece Robinson, and Daniel Frost, also pleaded guilty to charges of violent disorder. Two additional suspects, Kevin Reeves and Andrew Riddett, did not enter pleas and were remanded in custody. Matt Styler, a military veteran, pleaded not guilty to assaulting an emergency worker during the protests and remains in custody pending further court proceedings. Authorities are reviewing video evidence and anticipate more arrests.
