“Frequent Flyer Saves Big: Stuffing Neck Pillow Tricks Airline”

Date:

Leon Docwra, a frequent flyer, shared how he cleverly saved £75 to £100 on a Ryanair flight by utilizing a £15 neck pillow. He ingeniously stuffed the pillow with various items including underwear, T-shirts, swimming shorts, and a beach towel to avoid excess luggage charges. Additionally, he layered himself with two tracksuits, three pairs of pants, and three pairs of socks to bypass the extra fees.

Leon, residing in Great Yarmouth, explained that his strategy was born out of previous experiences of being penalized for exceeding baggage limits. His cost-cutting technique involved concealing clothing within the neck pillow, which he wore without being checked by airline staff. If faced with scrutiny, he intended to don all the extra layers to evade a potential £75 penalty.

The resourceful traveler, who works as a scrap metal dealer, mentioned that he opted for only hand luggage on his Norwich to Portugal flight, which was approximately £400. Inside the pillow were essentials like boxer shorts, socks, T-shirts, swimming shorts, and a towel, strategically hidden to avoid additional charges.

Leon admitted to regularly employing this money-saving tactic, emphasizing the high expenses associated with air travel. He expressed his determination to continue utilizing this method in the future to allocate those savings towards enhancing his holiday experience.

Sharing a video online showcasing his packed pillow, Leon received positive feedback from viewers who commended his innovative travel hack. He highlighted the importance of sharing money-saving tips with others during these challenging economic times.

Comments from viewers included anecdotes of similar experiences, with one person humorously mentioning sweating profusely due to wearing multiple layers. Another individual preferred paying extra rather than dealing with the hassle of ironing clothes upon arrival. The conversation also drew comparisons to iconic TV character Joey from “Friends.”

In response to potential airline scrutiny of this method, commenters debated the effectiveness of such a strategy, with some expressing concerns about potential future checks by airlines. Others shared their own experiences of incurring hefty fines on previous trips due to excess baggage charges.
