London Tube Strikes Disrupt Travel: 2 Lines Closed, 2 Partially

Date:

Tube strikes in London are causing widespread travel disruptions today, impacting two lines that are fully closed and two others with partial closures. The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union has initiated 24-hour walkouts, leading to closures on the Circle line, the Piccadilly line, the Metropolitan line between Baker Street and Aldgate, and the Central line between White City and Liverpool Street. Expect delays on all other Tube lines, with reduced service hours.

While London Underground services are affected, the Elizabeth line, DLR, London Overground, and buses continue to operate normally, but are anticipated to be busier than usual. The strike, which started at 00:01 today and will last until 11:59pm, will resume with another 24-hour strike on Thursday.

Passengers are advised to complete their journeys before 9pm due to disruptions. Although some lines are not impacted, commuters should prepare for limited service before 6.30am. The strikes have led to minor delays on certain lines, with service operating at reduced frequency.

TfL has expressed disappointment over the strike action and aims to run at least half of Tube services despite the disruptions. The RMT union proceeded with the strikes after unsuccessful talks with TfL regarding concerns over working hours and driver fatigue.

Services on the Elizabeth line are expected to be busier during the strikes. Travelers can use TfL services like TfL Go for real-time updates on transport status. The strike’s economic impact is estimated to be significant, affecting various sectors in London’s economy.
