An alleged gangland retaliation incident involved a car crashing into a house associated with a well-known crime family in Glasgow and setting it on fire, marking the second attack of its kind this year.
The assault occurred at a residence in the Barlanark neighborhood of Glasgow during the early hours of Thursday, June 18. Emergency services responded to the scene as flames spread from the vehicle to the front door of the house located at the end of a row.
According to reports from The Daily Record, the targeted house is connected to a family member of a trusted member of a local criminal group. The same property was previously attacked in a similar manner back in February, involving a car being rammed into its side.
Sources revealed to The Record that the incident was a retaliatory move following a recent firebomb assault on a business linked to an associate of a crime syndicate leader in Edinburgh. They emphasized that this action was a response to the ongoing feud between rival factions within the criminal underworld.
Photographs taken at the scene showed a white Nissan Juke engulfed in flames outside the residence. Further images displayed the wrecked burnt vehicle used to crash into the property, along with debris scattered across the garden from the interior of the house.
The car seemed to have collided with the living room’s double window, causing significant damage to the panel and glass. Scorch marks were visible on the brickwork above the window, indicating the intensity of the impact and subsequent fire.
Law enforcement authorities cordoned off the area around the property and restricted access to the street. Witnesses reported two individuals parking on a nearby street approximately an hour before the assault took place.
A nearby resident recounted observing suspicious activity, mentioning, “Two individuals parked a vehicle on the street behind here about an hour before the car was driven into the house. They appeared to be loitering in the vicinity, and their conversations hinted at malicious intent.”
The neighbor further described the sequence of events, stating, “Suddenly, there was a loud crash as the car rammed into the property. The individuals then threw a petrol bomb into the vehicle before fleeing the scene and escaping in another car.”
In a separate incident last month, a skip lorry was deliberately crashed into the home of a young gang member in Edinburgh, allegedly involved in instigating drug-related conflicts in Scotland.
A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident, stating, “We received reports of a house fire on Garvel Crescent, Glasgow, at 12:39 am on Thursday, June 18. Three fire appliances were dispatched to the location, and after ensuring the safety of the area, crews departed at 2:32 am with no reported injuries.”
