A prisoner held at the notorious ‘Monster Mansion’ facility has been designated as an ‘escape risk’ due to his high level of danger. This inmate, whose identity remains undisclosed, is considered the most likely individual to escape from the UK penal system among nearly 7,500 prisoners at Wakefield prison in West Yorkshire.
Wakefield prison, known for its infamous inmates, has housed notorious criminals such as ‘Dr Death’ Harold Shipman, Ian Huntley, and Roy Whiting in recent years. The highest risk prisoner at the facility is referred to as ‘E List,’ indicating his classification as a high escape risk.
According to the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB), Wakefield prison had a capacity of 7,441 inmates as of March 2025. Among them, 634 were categorized as high risk non-Category A prisoners, and 149 were Category A prisoners. Nine prisoners, including the ‘E List’ inmate, were identified as the highest risk individuals.
The IMB report stated that ‘E-list’ prisoners at HMP Wakefield are considered high escape risks, necessitating enhanced supervision with 60-minute interval checks and closely monitored movements. The prison, classified as a Category A high-security facility, houses inmates requiring the utmost level of security.
The Ministry of Justice declined to confirm whether the ‘E’ list prisoner was Daniel Khalife, a former soldier who previously escaped from HMP Wandsworth and was later sentenced to over 14 years in prison. While Khalife is considered a high-risk inmate due to his escape history, prison authorities refrained from discussing the specifics of the ‘E’ list system or individual prisoners.
