Over half of the UK population finds solace in their vehicles, with one in four getting less than 10 minutes of personal time daily. For many, their car serves as their only retreat, where they can relax and unwind away from the daily grind.
A study by Hyundai uncovered that 82% of Brits linger in their parked cars to savor moments of peace. Almost half of them take a moment to themselves before entering their homes, while over half use the car as a space for uninhibited singing and unwinding. Driving is also a common method cited for clearing one’s mind when feeling stressed.
Hyundai is introducing ‘Spa in a Car’ to replicate this sense of relaxation on the go. This unique Korean wellness experience will be housed in the IONIQ 9, Hyundai’s flagship electric SUV.
The immersive ‘Spa in a Car’ will debut in London’s Trafalgar Square, offering guests a 20-minute treatment session with a K-beauty therapist. Services include head, neck, and shoulder massages, along with facial treatments aimed at reducing tension and promoting tranquility.
Research indicates that Brits have a strong emotional attachment to their cars, associating them with nostalgia and cherished family memories. Many view car journeys as valuable family bonding time, with meaningful conversations often taking place inside the vehicle.
For parents, the car serves a practical purpose in aiding children’s sleep, with many reminiscing about being carried home asleep in their childhood. Additionally, familiar music or audiobooks from past car rides help individuals unwind even today.
Comfort plays a significant role in enhancing the relaxation experience during travel. Features like comfortable seating, air conditioning, and heated seats contribute to a calming environment. Electric vehicles are particularly favored by 40% of Brits for their quieter interiors compared to traditional petrol or diesel cars.
Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai and Genesis UK, emphasized the importance of providing individuals with moments of solitude through ‘Spa in a Car,’ leveraging the spaciousness and versatility of the IONIQ 9. This initiative aims to transform the car into a sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Yeany Kim, Director of Fine Clinic London, expressed pride in bringing Korean wellness practices to London through this collaboration with Hyundai. The blend of traditional Korean rituals and modern beauty innovations offers an authentic wellness experience in the heart of the city.
Hyundai’s IONIQ 9, available in six- and seven-seat configurations, boasts an impressive driving range of up to 385 miles and rapid charging capabilities. The vehicle’s interior features relaxation seats, sustainable materials, and advanced technologies, including Remote Smart Parking Assist and AI Assistant.
