A man under the influence of alcohol behaved inappropriately by showing up at a stranger’s doorstep with his pants down, requesting ‘sex,’ and then proceeded to break into a neighboring residence, causing damage in the process.
This incident involved Hamda Salah, who, despite being under two suspended prison sentences for sexual assault and assault, visited a street in the West End of Newcastle in June last year. When a woman answered her doorbell, she encountered Salah in a state of intoxication, with his trousers down, revealing his boxer shorts.
The resident, alarmed by Salah’s behavior, refused his request for ‘sex,’ prompting him to attempt to enter her home. However, she managed to close the door, causing Salah to retreat. Subsequently, Salah committed an act of burglary at a nearby house where a man lived with his son. Upon returning home, the son discovered an intruder inside the house.
Further investigation revealed that Salah had donned some of the father’s clothing, caused damage to the property, and stolen money. He was identified as the perpetrator through a blood spot left at the scene. Salah, an asylum seeker who arrived in the UK in April 2023, had already received suspended sentences for previous offenses.
As a consequence of his latest crimes, Salah was sentenced to three years in prison, ordered to register as a sex offender for life, and given a ten-year restraining order. He also remained subject to a sexual harm prevention order. Despite expressing remorse through his defense lawyer, Michael Forrest, Salah acknowledged the gravity of his actions and the ensuing consequences.
