Iran’s Supreme Leader Vows Retaliation and Control

Date:

Iran’s Supreme Leader has declared the regime’s commitment to seeking vengeance for his deceased father. A broadcast on Iranian State TV, reportedly from Mojtaba Khamenei, emphasized Iran’s stance of not desiring conflict but asserting its rights and viewing all resistance factions as one unified entity.

The message encouraged Iranians to avoid interacting with media outlets deemed to be backed by adversaries. Additionally, Iran plans to transition the management of the Strait of Hormuz into a new phase. The statement reiterated Iran’s determination to retaliate for past aggressions and elevate the control of the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting the loss of the late Supreme Leader and other “martyrs.” Ali Khamenei, Mojtaba’s father, perished during the initial US-Israeli bombardment on Iran in February.

Meanwhile, the fragile US-Iran ceasefire faces challenges as Israel launches assaults on Lebanon and Iran maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz amid uncertain peace negotiations. Both Tehran and Washington are asserting dominance and claiming victories. Talks for a lasting agreement might commence soon in Islamabad, with Vice President JD Vance slated to lead the US delegation.

Israeli airstrikes caused Wednesday to mark the deadliest day in Lebanon since the conflict erupted, resulting in over 300 fatalities according to the Health Ministry. Disagreements persist regarding whether the ceasefire encompasses the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, with Iran cautioning of robust responses if attacks on its ally persist.

Anticipated negotiations between Israel and Lebanon are set to take place in Washington next week, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirming his approval of direct discussions. While the Strait of Hormuz remains shut, no reports have emerged of attacks within Iran or on Israel or neighboring Gulf states today, leaving Lebanon as the sole battleground.

In a video address, Netanyahu vowed to continue targeting Hezbollah until security is restored in northern Israel. He announced the initiation of direct talks with Lebanon, aiming for Hezbollah’s disarmament and the establishment of a sustainable peace accord.
