Prince William Opens Up About Recent Unease

Date:

Prince William openly shared his current feelings of unease in a recent interview, marking his first public appearance since the arrest of his uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Accompanied by Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William attended the BAFTAs where he fulfilled his official duties as the fifth president. The royal couple graced the event in style, with William in a burgundy tuxedo and Kate stunning in a floor-length powder pink dress on the red carpet.

During the BAFTAs, the royal couple briefly faced questions about the Andrew situation from a reporter present at the awards ceremony. Despite being asked if the monarchy was at risk, both Prince William and Kate remained composed and did not visibly react to the inquiry.

Prince William, who has distanced himself from Andrew, admitted to feeling unsettled and disclosed that he had not yet watched a highly acclaimed film of the award season. This marked the first joint appearance of the Prince and Princess since Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest, where Kate watched the emotional film and was moved to tears.

When questioned about the film, Prince William explained that he needed to be in a calm state to watch it, which he was not at that moment. Kate humorously mentioned that she had watched it before the ceremony, resulting in tearful eyes due to its emotional impact and beautifully shot scenes. She praised the film’s music score and its portrayal of intergenerational grief, expressing a long list of films they still intended to watch.

Prince William mentioned not having seen certain films like “Marty Supreme” and described “Sinners” as too dark, while acknowledging the quality of “One Battle After Another.” Kate, adorned in a floor-length Gucci gown she previously wore in 2019, shared that their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were developing a growing interest in movies.

At the BAFTAs, Emily Stillman, Chair of Bafta’s Film Committee, reminisced about meeting Kate during her pregnancy with Prince George and their visit to the Warner Brothers studios in 2013, where they explored the Harry Potter set. Kate expressed her children’s enthusiasm for behind-the-scenes experiences in film and praised the studios for showcasing diverse career opportunities in the industry.
