Prince Andrew faced eviction from his residence at Royal Lodge in Sandringham and reportedly expressed his discontent during the process. The former Duke of York was compelled to relinquish the lease on his 30-room mansion after losing all his royal titles in October. His belongings, including valuable artwork, are now stored in a warehouse in South London under constant guard.
Both Andrew and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, who resided together at Royal Lodge since 2008, were required to vacate the property. Subsequently, Andrew was transferred to his new home on King’s Sandringham Estate in the middle of the night on February 2.
In a bid to remain at his mansion, Andrew protested, citing his royal status by saying, “I’m the Queen’s second son, you can’t do this to me.” However, he was urged to leave and faced criticism for not taking responsibility for the situation. He left Royal Lodge and currently resides at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate while his main residence is being renovated.
On his 66th birthday, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, with unmarked police cars and plain-clothed officers descending on Wood Farm. Despite consistent denials of any wrongdoing, Andrew was taken into custody and later released under investigation.
Following the search operations, Thames Valley Police confirmed the conclusion of searches on the Sandringham Estate and ongoing investigations at his former address in Windsor. The force stated that the suspect had been released under investigation without bail conditions, and further updates would be provided as necessary.
