The recent royal wedding saw Lady Marina Windsor exchanging vows with account executive Nico Macauley in a picturesque church ceremony. Lady Marina, the granddaughter of the 90-year-old Duke of Kent and a second cousin once removed to King Charles, has been a familiar face at notable royal gatherings. The private ceremony and reception in North Yorkshire were attended by close family and friends to celebrate the newlyweds.
Lady Marina looked stunning in a custom wedding gown by designer Larissa Von Planta, complemented by a veil made of antique Hapsburg lace and a historic tiara previously owned by her great-grandmother, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark. The tiara, which had also been worn by Lady Marina’s late grandmother, added an extra touch of elegance to her attire.
Notable guests at the wedding included Princess Alexandra’s granddaughter, Flora Vesterberg, and her husband, Timothy, as well as Lady Gabriella Windsor. Lady Marina’s parents, George Windsor, Earl of St Andrews, and Canadian academic Sylvana Tomaselli, were visibly emotional during the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony took place at All Saints Church in Hovingham, followed by a reception at Lady Marina’s late grandmother’s family home in North Yorkshire. Lady Marina had announced her engagement a year ago, and she and Macauley had been dating for two years before deciding to tie the knot.
Lady Marina, born in 1992, was once 25th in line to the throne but relinquished her place after converting to the Roman Catholic Church along with her elder brother. Her younger sister, Lady Amelia, remains in the line of succession.
This year has seen multiple royal weddings, with Peter Phillips, Princess Anne’s son, also tying the knot with NHS nurse Harriet Sperling in Cirencester. The royal family, including the King and Queen, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, were in attendance at that ceremony.
