A man has been sentenced to prison for stalking and fraud after sending threatening letters to an accountant due to his displeasure with her LinkedIn posts. Christian Jennings, 63, developed an unusual fixation on Jeri Williams, a prominent figure on the professional networking platform. The obsession began while Jennings was on bail following allegations of embezzling £150,000 from an NHS facility in Camberwell, London.
Jennings, residing in Stock, Essex, sent multiple anonymous letters to Ms. Williams between January and August 2025. The letters contained personal details about her business and family, with disturbing messages such as calling her names and issuing threats against her pet dog. Ms. Williams, feeling harassed and targeted, reported the incidents to the authorities.
In court, it was revealed that Jennings admitted to singling out Ms. Williams because he perceived her LinkedIn content as condescending, triggering his actions. The intimidation caused significant distress to Ms. Williams, leading her to fear for her safety and make substantial changes to her personal and professional routines, including relocating her business.
Furthermore, Jennings was found guilty of committing fraud while managing finances at Camberwell Green Surgery. His fraudulent activities came to light after suspicious transactions were noticed by the new practice manager post-Jennings’ departure in 2019. An audit exposed that Jennings had stolen a total of £151,841 over a six-year period.
Despite expressing remorse for his actions, Jennings was sentenced to two years and four months in prison for fraud and stalking offenses. The judge highlighted Jennings’ abuse of trust in handling the surgery’s finances and the distress caused to Ms. Williams. Jennings was also ordered to repay the remaining £120,000 within the next year to compensate for the stolen funds.
