By employing advanced technology in digital archaeology, experts pieced together a glimpse of Pompeii before its devastation by Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE, suggesting that the ash preserved the lower levels while erasing the upper floors.
Through analyzing architectural clues such as disconnected staircases and truncated support beams, the team reconstructed a digital representation of how the city might have appeared. They deduced that the staircase led to a tower where the wealthy could admire the city and the Bay of Naples.
Speculations suggest the tower could have soared up to 40 feet, with the House of Thiasus likely being a multi-story edifice.
Describing the interior as modestly furnished, contrasting with the grand external staircase leading to the upper floors, the researchers noted an elegant and distinguished living space.
