Man Accused of Murdering Wife, Burning Car

Date:

A man is facing charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse after allegedly killing his wife and leaving her body in the kitchen for three days while telling his children she was asleep. Salko Husejnovic, 31 years old, is accused of attempting to cover up the crime by setting a vehicle on fire.

The victim, Jasmina Aljic, was found deceased after a car fire in Kentucky. Investigators determined that she had died before the fire, as there was no evidence of soot in her lungs.

According to reports from Lexington Fox affiliate WDKY, police claim that Husejnovic assaulted and murdered his wife days before her body was discovered, misleading his children by saying their mother was sleeping. Allegedly, he enlisted the help of Shelly Boyd, 44 years old and dating his brother, who witnessed the attack but did not intervene. Boyd is also accused of purchasing gasoline to burn the car.

Both Husejnovic and Boyd are facing charges related to tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse for their involvement in torching the vehicle together.

During a preliminary hearing, a detective revealed that the victim had a protective order against Husejnovic. Detectives visited his residence after finding Jasmina’s body, and although Boyd initially claimed he was not home, Husejnovic eventually emerged. Initially denying knowledge of his wife’s whereabouts, Husejnovic later admitted to hitting her during an argument, resulting in her death.

Authorities found incriminating evidence in the home, including bloodstained pillows in the washing machine and surveillance footage implicating Boyd and Husejnovic. Boyd eventually confessed to witnessing the assault and confirmed that the body remained in the kitchen for three days before the car was set on fire.

Husejnovic later confessed to hitting his wife during an argument, claiming she stopped breathing, and alleging that Boyd suggested not calling 911 and leaving the body in the kitchen. The cause of death is still under investigation, and Husejnovic is currently detained at Warren County Jail.
