The victim, a man in his 60s, is in a critical condition in the hospital after the attack on Newport Road around 7 pm on Thursday. Authorities suspect that the victim was ambushed from behind while walking through the Castlefields area.

Described as a male in his mid-to-late-20s of average build, wearing dark attire, and potentially of Eastern European descent, the suspect remains at large. Staffordshire Police emphasized the significant police presence in the area and assured residents of continuous efforts to address the serious assault incident.
