A police shooting incident occurred in South Wales involving a man suspected of carrying a crossbow. The incident took place in St Edward Street, Newport, late on Friday after reports of threatening behavior were made. Police officers, including trained firearms personnel, responded to the scene where a 21-year-old Newport resident, seen with a weapon believed to be a crossbow, was shot by the officers. The man was subsequently hospitalized and is reported to be in a stable condition.
Deputy Chief Constable Nicholas McLain assured the public that there is no further risk to the community as the incident is isolated, and there is no ongoing search for additional suspects.
