A McDonald’s employee is currently hospitalized with severe burns after being attacked by a colleague who allegedly threw hot oil on him.
The incident took place on June 6 at a McDonald’s in Northern California. Jacob Smith, 20, was the victim of the attack, which led to serious injuries. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Jalani Bluett, fled the scene but was later apprehended by the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office.
Bluett faced charges including assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem, and serious felony assault resulting in great bodily injury during his arraignment. He is currently in custody in Sutter County without bail.
Jacob suffered burns to his face, neck, right arm, and back, resulting in second-degree burns covering 22 percent of his body. His mother, Amber Smith, mentioned that Jacob was preparing to finish his shift when the incident occurred. Jacob is undergoing treatment and is scheduled for skin graft surgery soon.
