Two individuals have been accused of murder following a tragic incident where two young friends lost their lives in a motorcycle accident. The victims, identified as Jaydon Bowyer, 19, and Tashay Canoville, 16, both from Newport, were fatally injured in the collision on Thursday, May 7.
According to a recent update from Gwent Police, two men, aged 18 and 34, have been charged with murder in connection to the road traffic collision on Aberthaw Road in Alway, Newport. The suspects are scheduled to appear in Newport Magistrates’ Court on May 11 and are currently in police custody. Meanwhile, two women, aged 24 and 40, from Newport were arrested on suspicion of murder but have been released.
Detective Superintendent Steven Maloney expressed condolences to the families of the victims and acknowledged the community’s support during this difficult time. He reassured the public of ongoing investigations and collaboration with the Crown Prosecution Service in reaching the charging decisions.
