Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, according to authorities. Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being assaulted at the nightclub on August 3. The Canadian Elite Basketball League team confirmed the incident.
The three individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the establishment, were taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They have since been released on undertakings. Although the specific nightclub was not disclosed, police mentioned it was located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues.
Allen has undergone medical evaluations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home, as stated in a team-released written statement on Thursday. Allen expressed that the assault was unwarranted and should not have occurred, emphasizing that such incidents should not happen to anyone.
