“Police Seek CCTV Footage After Schoolgirl Grabbed”

Police are urgently seeking CCTV footage following an incident where a hooded stranger grabbed a schoolgirl as she waited for her morning bus. The 14-year-old girl was approached by the suspect from an alleyway on Bamburgh Road in Clavering, Hartlepool, just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17. The man attempted to grab her, causing the girl to feel shaken. Fortunately, she was able to break free and immediately contacted her mother for help, who then safely took her home.

Although the girl was unharmed, the police reported that she was left feeling shaken by the encounter. The suspect, described as being between 5’5″ and 5’11” tall, was dressed in dark clothing and a hoodie at the time of the incident. Cleveland Police mentioned that they could not determine the gender or ethnicity of the suspect based on the provided description.

Acting Superintendent Nick See, the Hartlepool District Commander, expressed understanding for the concern parents may feel and assured that an extensive search of the area had been conducted by officers on foot, mobile patrols, and with a drone. He stated that a visible police presence would be maintained throughout the day as investigations continued. The police are collaborating with local schools to enhance safety measures, urging anyone with information or concerns to approach patrolling officers.
