The Rabbi mentioned the case of Essa Suleiman, 45, who is accused of attempting to kill two Jewish men in north London. One victim was discharged from the hospital, while the other, who sustained a neck injury, remains hospitalized. Rabbi Fromson expressed the community’s feelings of sadness and anger towards the heightened security measures, reflecting on past attacks such as the 2025 Manchester synagogue incident and the Hazola ambulance attack in March.
Regarding security at Jewish schools, Rabbi Fromson described the additional precautions implemented, including uniformed guards, Airgate systems, and parent rotas for enhanced visibility. He emphasized the daily reality of heightened security measures for young children attending Jewish schools, noting that these measures have been in place for decades.
The Rabbi emphasized the importance of education in combating antisemitism, advocating for programs that address the root causes of prejudice and promote understanding and empathy. He stressed the need for education to begin at a young age and extended to university campuses to combat prejudices effectively.
In a court appearance, the alleged attacker from Golders Green faced charges related to attempting to murder a longtime acquaintance before the stabbing incident involving the Jewish men. The accused, Essa Suleiman, appeared in court accompanied by security guards and was remanded in custody.
