Three members of the Royal Navy tragically lost their lives in a military helicopter accident in Devon. The defense chiefs honored them as dedicated professionals. The fatal incident occurred during a training exercise when their helicopter, a Royal Navy Merlin Mk4, encountered difficulties in the early hours of Wednesday. Emergency services responded to the crash site in Sourton near Okehampton following reports of a bright red flash.
Lt. Fisher was described as an active individual from a young age, excelling in various sports and eventually discovering her passion for flying. She was on the brink of receiving her Pilot’s Wings before the tragic accident.
Lt. Cdr Grayson had a distinguished career, serving as a Warfare Officer and Senior Pilot, providing advanced helicopter training. His family remembered him as a kind and dedicated family man. As for Petty Officer Green, he joined the Royal Navy in January 2022 and demonstrated exceptional professionalism and dedication throughout his career.
The loss of these three aviators deeply saddened the aviation community. Tributes were paid by various officials, expressing condolences to the families and acknowledging the significant impact the individuals had within the Royal Navy and beyond.
