In a serene neighborhood of Xochitlán de las Flores in Tula, Mexico, a decapitated human head was discovered inside an abandoned box by the police, marking the second such incident within the week. The unsettling find occurred early on Saturday morning when authorities were notified about a suspicious cooler left on Calzada de las Bugambilias street. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the box contained the severed head of a man, leading to the immediate involvement of forensic teams who secured the area. Notably, a piece of cardboard with the inscription “1×1” was found atop the cooler.
An individual claiming to be a neighbor came forward at the scene and identified the victim as her missing nephew, Luis Fernando ‘N’, aged 24, who had been reported missing since February 17. While the identity of the deceased is yet to be officially confirmed by the police, two families have stepped forward to assist in the identification process at the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
This discovery follows a similar incident earlier in the week when another human head was found in Tula. Residents of the Barrio Alto area had alerted authorities about an abandoned bucket on Galeana Street, which was also discovered to contain a human head along with a threatening message linked to the Bárcenas criminal group. Tula has been embroiled in a territorial dispute among criminal factions vying for control over the drug trade and the theft of fuel from Pemex pipelines.
Law enforcement has initiated investigations into both cases, with ongoing efforts to gather evidence and unravel the circumstances surrounding these gruesome discoveries. Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar highlighted the escalating conflicts between criminal organizations, emphasizing the government’s commitment to maintaining public order and security amidst the challenging situation.
Meanwhile, in Cerro Azul, a nearby town in Alfajayucan, residents stumbled upon human remains in a water canal. Police responded to find a torso, speculating a potential connection to the Tula victims, suggesting that the remains might have been disposed of in a canal there and carried by the water current to Alfajayucan.
