“Speedboat Killer Admits Vicious Assault with BBQ Tongs”

Date:

Jack Shepherd, known as the speedboat killer, has admitted to viciously assaulting a woman, which included using barbecue tongs during the attacks. The 38-year-old confessed to two charges of causing actual bodily harm and property damage via a video link from prison.

The assaults occurred in February and June of the previous year, leading to Shepherd’s return to prison. Initially sentenced to 10 years for manslaughter in 2018 following the death of Charlotte Brown in a speedboat crash, Shepherd evaded his trial at the Old Bailey while in Georgia. He was later extradited back to the UK for sentencing.

Released on license in January 2024, Shepherd faced imprisonment again in September the same year due to allegations of violence towards a woman. Appearing at Isleworth Crown Court via video link, Shepherd, sporting a beard and casually dressed, pleaded guilty to three charges, with two others being kept on record.

During the plea hearing, Shepherd admitted to assaulting the woman in her 50s by punching her and using barbecue tongs in separate incidents, along with damaging her property. His sentencing is scheduled for September 4 at Isleworth Crown Court.

Following his initial release in 2024, Shepherd was recalled to jail for breaching his license terms by reportedly contacting his alleged victim against bail conditions and missing curfew. This information was disclosed in a recent parole board report, prompting a call for a public parole hearing.

The tragic incident involving Ms. Brown occurred in 2015 when she was thrown from Shepherd’s speedboat on the River Thames. Her father, Graham, expressed his grief and the ongoing emotional turmoil surrounding his daughter’s death, emphasizing the lack of closure due to Shepherd’s absence during the trial.
