“TalkTalk Transfer: Rise Fibre to Absorb 120K Customers”

Date:

Thousands of customers of TalkTalk are set to be transferred to a new service provider in the upcoming months. The telecommunications giant is offloading around 120,000 broadband and home phone subscribers to Rise Fibre, a company that began operations in June 2025. This move will significantly boost Rise Fibre’s customer count to 250,000, while TalkTalk will still retain approximately 1.5 million customers.

Affected customers should have received notifications earlier this month about the transfer. Their current broadband speed and monthly charges will remain unchanged, and those with a home phone can retain their existing number. However, individuals looking to switch to a different provider may encounter early termination fees if they are still under contract with TalkTalk. The transition process is expected to occur seamlessly without any service disruptions, and there will be no need to replace any broadband equipment.

In the event of an extended service outage, customers are advised to file a complaint, which could entitle them to compensation. Most of the households being transferred are currently utilizing the CityFibre network.

According to a statement on the TalkTalk website, the company and Rise Fibre will collaborate over the next few months to finalize the account transition. Rise Fibre will keep customers informed before implementing any alterations to billing or account management procedures.

Steve Wilson, the CEO of Rise Fibre, emphasized that the transfer signifies more than just an acquisition, marking a significant advancement in the emergence of a fresh competitor in the UK broadband market. He highlighted the demand from consumers for improved service, simplified products, and a provider that is easy to deal with, which drove the creation of Rise Fibre.

If you are out of contract, you may be overpaying for your mobile and broadband services. Before exploring other options, assess your current usage patterns for minutes, texts, and broadband speeds to avoid paying for unnecessary allowances. Once you have determined the package you need, utilize comparison websites to find the most cost-effective deals available. After comparing prices, consider switching to a new provider for better rates, or negotiate with your current provider for a discounted offer. If they cannot match the price, consider switching and explore cashback opportunities on websites for potential incentives when signing up for a new broadband or mobile plan.
