A young social media influencer featured in a TV documentary on Channel 5 passed away due to a drug overdose while residing in a supported living facility, as revealed in court proceedings. The inquest into the death of Princess-Bliss Dickson commenced in Essex, but was temporarily halted to allow the police to investigate the circumstances surrounding her tragic demise.
Princess, aged 16, lost her life on February 7 at supported accommodation in Waltham Abbey. She gained public attention at the age of four through her appearance on the 2014 Channel 5 show “Blinging Up Baby,” which showcased mothers lavishing their children with extravagant accessories. Princess’ mother, Sophie-May Dickson, was featured on the program, sharing her enthusiasm for giving her daughters pedicures, spray tans, and hair extensions.
During the inquest opening at County Hall in Chelmsford, Princess’ family was in attendance. The Senior Coroner for Essex, Lincoln Brooke, expressed heartfelt condolences to the family and extended sympathies to their wider circle of relatives and friends.
Providing additional details, Coroner’s officer Matthew Austin disclosed that Princess was found unresponsive in bed at her residence on Buxton Road, Waltham Abbey. Emergency services were called, but she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Essex Police initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing.
A post mortem conducted at Great Ormond Street Hospital attributed Princess’ death to acute quetiapine toxicity. Quetiapine is a prescription medication used to treat severe mental health conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
The Coroner decided to suspend the coronial inquiry to prioritize the ongoing police investigation. Essex Coroner Sonia Hayes will oversee future proceedings and periodically review the case. Sophie-May, Princess-Bliss’ mother, has spoken publicly about the cyberbullying her daughter faced.
Essex County Council expressed sadness over the incident and confirmed collaboration with the police and Ofsted as part of the safeguarding efforts, refraining from further comments until the investigation progresses. Essex Police stated that they are diligently conducting inquiries aligned with the coronial process to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the teenage girl’s demise.
