A tragic incident unfolded as a three-year-old boy was discovered unconscious in a garden pond at his residence, according to details revealed during an inquest into his untimely passing. The young child, identified as Reuben Reynolds, lost his life following the distressing episode at a property on Brownmoor Lane in Crosby, Merseyside, last weekend. He was swiftly transported to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital after being found in the pond, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at 10:57 pm the following day.
Although a post-mortem examination is pending, the senior coroner Anita Bhardwaj informed the court that it is anticipated to occur within the week. The scheduling of a comprehensive inquest is pending the results of the post-mortem examination.
During the court proceedings, evidence presented by coroner’s officer Laura Daniels disclosed that Reuben was discovered face down in the garden pond on Saturday, July 18. It is understood that Reuben resided at the residence in Crosby with his mother. The authorities, including Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service, responded to the incident promptly, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
Merseyside Police confirmed the sequence of events, stating that emergency services were summoned to the address on Brownmoor Lane in Crosby after reports of a child falling into a pond. Tragically, despite the efforts of the medical team, the child could not be saved.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police emphasized that they are actively assisting the family and conducting investigations to ascertain the complete circumstances surrounding the incident.
