Trump was promptly guided out of the venue by secret service agents, while numerous individuals remained in lockdown within the main ballroom. The President later confirmed his safety on Truth Social, stating that the First Lady, Vice President, and Cabinet members were unharmed.
Subsequently, Trump announced plans to deliver an address outside the White House shortly. Meanwhile, guests at the Hilton, where the incident occurred, continued to be restricted within the premises, with the area of the suspected gunshots cordoned off.
The alleged shooter was reportedly apprehended, as per Trump’s social media update. The President indicated a potential resumption of the event, subject to law enforcement guidance, acknowledging that the evening’s proceedings would be altered from the original plan.
