Donald Trump made remarks today suggesting that the United States is prepared to address the situation in Cuba, which he characterized as being in a state of collapse. The president indicated that American forces could potentially visit Cuba after the resolution of the conflict in Iran, whenever that occurs.
During a media briefing at the White House, Trump described Cuba as having “sort of collapsed” and hinted at a future visit by US forces to the island nation following their engagements in the Middle East. “It’s sort of collapsed. And we’re gonna handle that as soon as we finish,” he stated.
“I like to do one thing at a time. We’ll take care of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and as soon as that is done, on our way back we’ll just make a brief stopover,” Trump told reporters.
In a previous report from May, it was disclosed that Trump had instructed the Pentagon to develop plans for potential action against Cuba as part of his response to challenges with Iran strategy.
In March, Trump had expressed optimism about the downfall of Cuba, mentioning the cutting off of resources from Venezuela as a contributing factor. When asked about the US role in the Cuban government’s decline, Trump responded provocatively, implying a longstanding involvement.
This breaking news story highlights Trump’s recent comments on Cuba, reflecting his strategic considerations amid ongoing geopolitical developments.
